I am terrified of snakes, especially when they lift their heads up or open their mouths. Water snakes are especially terrifying. That new-fangled aquatic cobra is my worst nightmare. I'd probably kill myself if I had to meet one in person.
But for some freakish reason unknown to me, I'd do anything for a female snow cornsnake. I love them. They're beautiful. I want one to grow up with. I'd treasure her forever. I already have a tank and alot of accessories for when I find a good snake. I'd like to start with a hatchling because I want my snake to be very accustomed to being held. I even plan to breed and gas my own mice to make sure she gets the best possible nutrition.
So, that's my freakshow introduction.. Yeah..

You are not that odd, you should see some of the real oddballs we have on this site
Don't downplay yourself like that Christina.......you have support here.
Welcome to the site, I think after seeing plenty of pictures with people holding their snakes and reading stories of all the members and their animals.........you will find out that the snakes aren't really that bad. Alot of peoples significant others who used to be terrified of snakes are not handling them like they were worms. It's also good that you have come here before getting your snake so you will be able to learn about the best avenues to take for a healthy corn........and the mistakes not to make along the way. I have given you a few links below that will get you started in the right direction. I would put money on it that you may catch the "addiction" that most others tend to catch......and have multiple snakes down the road.

Wow... you ARE crazy. You only want ONE cornsnake??
Don't worry. We'll fix you.
Haha!
Yes, I only want one. In the long run, if I'm going to have a five foot snake, I'd rather if there was just one. Not to mention my family thinks I'm kookoo for wanting a snake pet. We normally have bunnies and kitties and things of that sort. But really I can't wait to get a snake, I just want to learn more before I jump into it.
I said I only wanted one once upon a time...lol. You will love corns they are so sweet even the feisty ones are more funny then scarey. Good luck and welcome aboard.

The more I look at different morphs, the less afraid I am. After reading the horror stories on the mistakes thread, it sounds like ALOT of snakes make good pets. Some day when I'm old and rich (wishful thinking) I want a piebald ball python. Gorgeous animals.
I'm still mortally terrified of kingsnakes. I think it's just their appearance that scares me. I don't like any snakes with black bands though. Must be that garden of eden complex within me.

Piebald ball pythons will probably be a lot more affordable in 5 or 6 years.
First because more and more people are breeding them, second because the market tends to change focus on what it considers hot every so often.
I know squat about ball morphs - but if I was going to get a ball, it would be a hypo mojave - they are the most gorgeous balls I have *ever* seen. I can't wait until they become more to my wallets liking.
