Hello from California

Hello everyone. I'm a stay-at-home, homeschooling mom of three. Loved snakes all my life but was never allowed to have them as a child. Finally talked my husband into letting me get one (amel corn from a pet store) in March, and a month later talked him into snake #2 (butter motley/stripe), which I got from Joni Garcia. Now I'm waiting for snake #3. I've promised my hubby I'll stop at three. LOL

Sorry, thought it had my signature attached.

Welcome!

I was home schooled for part of my education myself! I think it's great that you are willing and able to give your kids that opportunity.

Good luck with the corns - soon, you'll have your hubby building racks

Maybe not - but seriously, get him to a show - he may suddenly find something he is interested in.

As far as buying from Joni Garcia - good choice
She has some gorgeous stock. Blows my mind.

My oldest son (age 8) is already begging to breed snake #1 and #2. I'm thinking they'll still be in their prime of reproductive years when he's 16, and it might just be a great "science" project for him.

And re: getting my hubby to a show... I've got the advertisement for the June 28/29 show in San Diego on my desk. My kids and I have been trying to talk him into it. Only a 2 and 1/2 hour drive away!

If you can wait, the Anaheim show is larger and less of a drive. Here is a link...
North American Reptile Breeder's Conference & Trade Show

In the meantime, there will be a So Cal shin dig in June at VJ's and his collection is just about as extensive as a reptile show.

Welcome from another Californian (there are actually quite a few of us!) I was going to say exactly the same thing as Carol but she beat me to it!
I have seen Joni's butter stripe-motleys and they are real knockouts! You're lucky to have one. Good luck deciding on what your third snake will be, there are so many pretty ones to choose from!

Thank you Carol! I had no idea about the Anaheim show. Thank you for the link! And thank you also for the link for the potluck. That sounds really cool, and my kids would LOVE seeing someone's collection, but my husband (as a snake non-enthusiast) would be a very tough sell.

Poppycorn, I had no idea how lucky I was when I contacted Joni Garcia! And I'm just thrilled with the little guy I got from her.

Thank you for the warm welcomes, everyone! I look forward to getting to know everyone better. Glad to hear there are more Californians here!

I don't think #3 will be your stopping point......it takes un-human strength to overcome the addiction monster, good luck.

Welcome Julie..........killer purple house.
