Website and/or Forum help....

I was wondering if anybody knows of a "freeware" program or any other options where somebody could make a banner or logo. I understand most people charge for doing things like this on a professional level, but I also know there are other free applications floating around for other things.

I have looked but either don't know the correct terminology for finding it.....or there just aren't many available. I was just looking for something to play with and get something ready for my signature line here, as well as my upcoming website. Just wanting to mess around with different designs and styles to see what I could make........something with different fonts, font sizes, clip-art, colors, etc.

Note: I have absolutely NO programming experience so it will most likely have to be a "walk-through" based program or one of those "Banners for Idiots" type things. Any help would be appreciated.
