When we were in Portland last w/e, we went to the bead show just to kill time and of course to shop. While we there, we met Bob Burkett, a renowned metalsmith, who had a small booth. Looking at his work, we came across this "bead". It is 20% silver/80% copper and is a true one of a kind. The piece he carved to cast it was destroyed in the process, as all of his one-of-a-kinds are. I couldn't believe someone had done a piece like this! Three snakes "hatching" out of a gorgeous burnished bronzy bead. It's hollow, but heavy, and it's signed on the back. I am planning something fantastic to go with it and make me a jaw dropping necklace.
