...I'm back! I'd imagine no one realized I was gone, but I missed this place. My summer has been filled with sewer back-ups, ruptured discs, emergences, work, legal battles, more work, and just a splash of work thrown in for good measure.
I've really missed this forum, but with the last few months I've had all I've had almost zero spare time for anything relaxing. But, now that we're fully staffed at work and I'm seeing a doctor regularly, I think I might have a little more time to spend on the fun things.
I hatched out three clutches this year which was nice, but the season was fraught with sadness. Due to reasons beyond my understanding my last and most exciting clutch came fully to term, dented, and then each baby (all 21 of them) died in the egg. Some made it half way out and then expired, most didn't even get that far. The same thing happened with half of another clutch, and the other two went just fine. I haven't a clue what happened as they were all in the same incubator, in the same sorts of tubs and had the same substrate. I won't be daunted though, I have high hopes for this coming season.
I'm expecting a leopard tortoise tomorrow morning as a belated birthday gift for my mom. She's terribly excited, and I can't wait to see this little one. I'm also expecting my BP collection to nearly double with the arrival of six new babies. I'm expecting a Mojave, a Spider, a pair of Yellowbellies, and an Albino. Yes, I'm insane. I hear that a lot these days.
I also recently found out that the back pain I've been dealing with for three years now is due to a ruptured disc and arthritis. I'm not thrilled, but I am happy to finally know what's going on in there. My ice pack has become my friend, and I haven't ridden my horse at all this year. I hope to get back to that next week, I've missed it a lot but the pain was too much to deal with.
Other than that, life is pretty normal around here. One thing that has made my life easier in a way is using a site to track my reptiles. I still haven't got all their pictures and tracking up, but I'll get there. All my babies from this year can be seen here . It has made keeping track of how well they're eating and what they're eating a little less annoying. I still hate it, but it encourages me to try a little harder.
So yeah, that's pretty much what my summer was like. I'm happy to be back.
