As the poet Robbie Burns once penned, "The best laid plans of mice and men ..."
My plans to leave for Tinley did, indeed, "gae aglee." It started with my idea of leaving early: drop the dogs off at the sitter and hit the road. I got side-swiped by Husband's idea of leaving early: leave before sundown.
Okay, I can adapt, improvise and overcome ... is that Army or Marines? Anyhoo, I'll deal. Sleep a little later. Check last minute stuffs. Whatever.
That thought was slam-dunked this morning when we woke to mid-30* temps and no heat. Now, the part of this that kills me - we've had mornings in the 50's and 60's with day temps soaring into the 80's for the last month. Just as we're ready to leave town for a week, the forecast drops this chill-bomb in our laps.
Luckily, we were able to get a recommendation from our dog-sitter (who also runs a construction company with her sig-other). The HVAC guy came out within 30 minutes, figured out the problem, got the part, and fixed the problem before 12:00. And it didn't cost as much as I feared it would. Woot!
Except now, I'm back to doing little chores while Husband finishes his stuff in the mouse house. We should be outta' here before ... sundown.
For those going to Chicago - see ya's there! For everyone else - see ya's!
