Yup, you are absolutely right. that Big yellow thing is a slug. This is the first year that this girl has been bred, and we were surprised by how many babies we had as well as the fact that we only got one slug.
Here is a picture of the mother:
This picture was taken on the day that we brought her home. She was bought Gravid from a good friend of mine whose wife was having medical problems and so they were selling off a bunch of animals to help give them time and money. He said that she should be ready to drop between 3 and 8 weeks after we got her, but after that time came and went, the wife and I just about gave up on having the babies. Then we woke up almost two and a half months later on Sunday to find these. needless to say, we were excited.
And, something that surprised me...I decided to offer them food last night, and 5 of them ate on the day of their birth. So that made me pretty happy. Like I said, I will be off work a bit early today so I will be taking pictures of them all and will post them up here.
They ate! Congratulations! What did they eat for their first meal? I'm sorry, I have a gross question. Would a kingsnake eat that slug like they'd eat a layed slug?

Everyone was offered a live Rat Pink (beings I breed them). 5 of the 16 ate, and I was super excited. I will offer the others food again in 3 days.
I don't know if the king will eat this slug. I am sure that they would. However, this has a lot of bedding attached to it, so I don't think I will be offering it.

Thanks. A lot of people let kings eat the slugs and unhatched eggs from clutches. I haven't done this yet, but may end up doing it next year.
Its nature's little clean up systems! Frankly I like it when no resources are wasted. I feel the same way that many Native Americans feel about the cycle of life. Its all part of the web. BTW, mom is gorgeous! I love the colors BRB's are throwing these days.

Have you seen the Anery's yet? There are 2 lines, but Brian Sharp's line I think is the best. Here is the pair that I got from him not too long ago... New Snakes for the Wife's breeding plans
Oh My Goodness! No I have not seen those morphs before. When did those arrive on the scene? I had no idea. They are superb. I hope they keep those nice clean backgrounds! Makes me think of chocolate. I just want to eat them up!

Brian sharp has had them out for a while, and the other line has been out since at least 2000. The Sharp line came from an imported gravid WC female. These look better than the other line as they have better grays and the crescents are white.
Congrats Paul, I guess we have to get down to business and order a table for February. If you still want to, let me know how you want to do it (me pay/you pay, and the other pays back or what ever). The boas look good, glad to hear she finally popped.
