I started this thread over at CS.com, but it seems to have gotten lost in everything else going on over there, so I figure I will start it back up over here. I know there are a few people on here that will love to see this guy again.
So here we go.
I figured I would start a progression thread on one of the normals that I hatched out this year. This guy isn't a normal normal. He was hatched from a normal X Normal het Anery A, amel, and Hypo. As far as I can tell, by talking to Don (Got the mom from him) there shouldn't be any Bloodred/diffused in this line.
This was his hatching picture:
And this is a picture from last night.
And, here is a belly shot from last night (not really good):
I will post updated pictures of this guy about once a month or if there is a significant change to him.
Well, Baldie just shed again, so here are some updated pictures taken last night.
I took a look at the parents bellies, but didn't get pictures. The mother seems to have normal markings and there is orange/red creeping into the belly. But the father has the same type of divided checks as Baldie does. I will try and take belly shots of them tonight while I have them out for feeding.
now, here are some interesting facts on this guy. His parent line is as follows:
Mother is Slither: Okeetee (SMR line)
Father is Scooter: Notmal het Amel, Anery A, and Hypo (offspring of Slither and Snowie - Hypo Snow)
I am planning on pairing these two up this year to see if I can get anything similar to this guy. and if I do, I will be sure to post updates here. I will also be taking updated pictures tonight while feeding and try to get them up here tonight as well.
It certianly will be interesting to follow this little fellows progression. I remember when you first posted his picture. I LOVE his "bald" little head.
I remember pics of this little guy and it is great to see you will be posting more here. Interesting that his parents both have quite reduced side patterns and it appears that his father also lacks a well defined head pattern - though it could just be the lighting in the photos.
Not to suggest anything about his lineage but just to not a similarity - I have quite a few of my emoryi crosses that have this bald head pattern along with reduced side pattern and belly abnormalities. I have heard suggestions that these features that have been associated with diffused pattern are actually inherited separately from the diffusion gene and are inherited in a sex-linked manner. Perhaps someone with more knowledge of this will comment here,

LOL Before I read your opening words, I said that ain't no normal normal You sure someone didn't slither out in the middle of the night for a secret tryst???
I'll look forward to seeing if a repeat breeding will bring about more Baldies.
It looks to me like some sunkissed influence. The brighter colour, the longer more square saddles, the oddball head pattern. I wonder if Don knows about any sunkissed getting in the mix from the Okeetee mom? The reduced side pattern look to be related to the saddle pattern. Both parents have that banded appearance. Very nice, keep us updated on Baldie and his '07 brothers and sisters.

I will deffinately do that. He just gets brighter and brighter with each shed. I also kept 2 of his siblings back to see the difference in them, and there is a very stark difference. I will try and get pictures up of those two as well. These pictures are old, the last one was taken on 10/25/06, so I need to get updates on him.
I have thought about the sunkissed, but have yet to mention this to Don. I also have no other sunkissed beauties at home, so I won't be able to run test breedings on that angle for a while. Not planning on aquiring any new snakes this year other than keepers from the breeding season, but we shall see what happens. If I can find an adult pair of sunkisseds at a good deal, I may just get them.
Well, here are some pictures from last night just before they got their meal.
First up is Baldie:
Next up are the two siblings that I kept back:
Sibling 1
Sibling 2
Off hand, I don't remember the sex of the two siblings, but Baldie is a male. There is such a drastic difference in the coloration between these three clutch mates that I dont' really know what to think. Sibling one is dark with wide black borders, and sibling 2 has more of a normal normal coloration, while Baldie is super light with reduced black pigments. I can't wait till they are 1 and 2 years old to see what happens with their color.
