I expect that it's possible, through selective breeding, to eventually get a "blaze" type marking like the white area on the foreheads of dogs and horses and such.
The scale is definitely missing. Here's a closeup, followed by a shed showing the scale pattern. And yes, I am planning to see if I can recover the blaze in future generations.

LOL, no, Don didn't buy him back. But he did buy back the mother of this fire clutch from the fellow who he sold her to as a hatchling, because she was the most beautiful female fire he'd ever seen. Don bred this gorgeous red female to his best male and I raised up the whole clutch for Don to be his future breeding stock. All the progeny were outstanding, and I got to keep my favorite pair. We both agreed that Habanero's awesome genetics could be better utilized if he were placed with Don.

Gorgeous fires! *drools*

The missing scale thing is pretty neat...I'm in the process of purchasing a female hypo tricolour Honduran milksnake with what looks to be the same thing...I'll keep you updated, if you're interested

I am VERY interested. I started a new thread Blaze head pattern - missing parietal scale so that we will have a place to discuss this topic where it won't get buried in this thread. Please do post picts there, I would love to see them.

I'm hopefully getting her in on Friday, so I'll take some pictures for you then...apparently, it's something that's been cropping up in the hypo line of Hondos for the past few years in North America...no one knows exactly where it comes from, but most seem to think it's hereditary too, and a few linked to incubation conditions...There was a pretty big discussion on the Reptiles Canada Forums...I will pm you a link ^_^
