The first Cornsnake eggs!

The first cornsnake clutch has arrived! I only opened the eggbox and took a few pics. Was pretty sure she was done laying. This is my Charleston bred to a first timer male bloodred. This clutch is the result. As I expected, she had some slugs but the majority look fertile. But now a question arises...are these the result of retained sperm from previous year or are these indeed het bloodred? Guess only time will tell! I'm looking forward to corn babies!

just an update, she ended up with 16 fertile eggs. So now I sit back and wait...and wait...and wait...

Seems the snakes as a whole really aren't changing that much from laying from the time last year despite being brought out earlier. Think next year I'll not try this get them up early idea. Only the Pines went early and I wonder if they would have done better had they been on a more natural timing. But anyhow, egg laying season is certainly under way. And looks like Monster is next...

You know Jeff, knowing that will help me down the road should I ever want to outcross to more wild caught Charleston stock. Just so I can be a stick in the mud with Chuck and keep preaching my Charleston line...he he he...

love my Charlestons...two more weeks till the Charleston bloodred cross should be hatching...should...
