Last night as I walked around doing things I happened to look down into one of the cages and noticed... Hey! those two aren't just lying there, they are locked up! So I got my camera, and took a shot with door closed. Then I carefully unlocked and opened the door. Took another shot. But they had heard or rather, felt the door open. So they began to disengage and these are the resulting shots. I was able to gently lift the male's tail for the last bunch of shots. He didn't seem to mind at all... He must be real proud or something. He zipped IT back inside right after the last shot. The Charlestons have been breeding like crazy for over a week now. So this is getting to be overkill for this pair. But I don't have any other plans for this first time male so I just keep putting him in there with her every few days. And they do the wild thing. Breeding season is very much well under way around here. The pine snakes look like they've swallowed a bunch of balls as they have swollen up with ovulations. I just hope they have fertile eggs and don't slug out on me! Anyhow, enjoy the pics! Spring has started for me! Despite the cold temps and couple feet of snow outside... It'll get warmer...LOL! After I took the shots both of them peered out from under the paper as if to say, hey, what's up with being disturbed? Can't we get any privacy?
