2007 Breeding progress

This is it for this year unless some of them double clutch of course. We're pretty happy with the results so far. Some of the clutches have fairly large eggs so there should be some big healthy hatchlings. We tried a few new things this year:

1. 3 of our clutches are incubating in Hatchrite. We wanted to see how the Hatchrite works out in comparison to the perlite and vermiculite we've used in the past.
2. All of our clutches are in sealed containers this year as it seemed to work better with the few clutches we tried it with last year. Every two weeks we open the egg boxes to exchange the air. This keeps away the annoying little flies that sometimes are attracted to the eggs. This also keeps all the moister trapped inside so you don't have to keep adding water.
3. This year we decided to incubate all the eggs at room temperature. Next year we'll have more than twice as many clutches (if all goes well) and we don't have an incubator that big. This year is kind of a trial for next year. We keep our reptile room in the 80 - 86 degree heat range so we should be good there.

We'll be wholesaling the more common stuff locally and offering the rest for sale to the lower 48 states. After complete clutches have hatched I'll post pics of the hatchlings and prices. If anyone is interested in something on our list just send me a PM.

Thanks Carol. If we had 40+ clutches like you it may be a little different. You're so good at getting pics up and that's where I'm falling behind. I think I need to take pics of 2 snakes a day until I get them all done.

Thanks guys If only they would hatch on time . I made up the expected dates based on 65 days but it looks like it's going to be more like 70 days. The first clutch due has just started to dimple a little. So, so close! Lol.

The first clutch finally started pipping last night. There were only two and it looked like a normal and an Anery. This morning the Anery was half way out and I could see it's stripes . The normal was still hangin out in the egg and there were a couple more eggs pipped. Can't wait to get home and check out what else has come out of the eggs.

Ok... here's some pics . So far there's two anery stripes and a hypo stripe. They have a bit of a vanishing pattern. First time I've seen any of that here.
