The mouse is plugged directly into the back of the computer, I had problems running the Razer mouse through the hub as I think it needed more juice than it was getting. The hub which contains the printer, iPod dock, and my webcam/mic, doesn't light up the LED's like it used to, but I notice the light on the webcam is on which I'm not sure if its supposed to be or not. If I remember correctly it comes on at start up and then goes off unless I'm using it.

I haven't tried to use my iPod dock yet and it doesn't recognize the printer or the webcam as new hardware, so I'm pretty sure the hub isn't being recognized at all even after unplugging/plugging it back in.

I've uninstalled the nVidia nForce BUS driver that was on the motherboard CD and installed what should have been an updated one from nVidia directly, no go. Still no response from the mouse or anything USB after start up. I unplug and plug back in, voila, mouse.

I downloaded an nForce driver even newer still from the MSI webpage and it screwed up the ethernet. I may try that one again and omit installing a new ethernet driver, as that works just fine, I just can't get ANYTHING USB to work.

Right now I'm just driver shy, I actually had to use a system restore just to get back to a point where I could get online and research further, as the install of the one driver stopped responding and froze up in the middle and I think that's mostly what screwed everything up. Thank goodness for system restores.

But oddly enough when I uninstalled the BUS driver, the mouse works at start up, but I get a "Found New Hardware Wizard" window wanting to install software for the BUS. So I am totally confused its almost like a conflict somewhere.

Other than that everything else works really well and this thing blew my socks off playing Guild Wars. Now if I could get this one last headache worked out I'll be a happy camper.

Well I thought I had it fixed.

I downloaded the MSI Live Update utility which checks what you have and compares it to the newer versions, uninstalls the old, and installs the new.

It installed the newest BUS controller driver and voila, the mouse worked for 3 consecutive restarts and I took the printer and iPod off of the hub and plugged them directly in and it found both of them on the restarts as well. But this latest restart, the mouse didn't work, but everything else did.

*sigh*

Does your Hub have an external power connection? Some hubs have this as an optional deal as things like printers and Cameras, need to have more power to run their USB connection than just the 5V and standard current that the USB bus provides. If your HUB didn't come with one, take it to some place like Radio Shack, and they should be able to help you find a wall wort to power the hub. Other than that, you may need to get a new HUB.

The hub did have an external power source, but I don't think it was working right, none of the LED's were lit up on the hub at all.

I ended up using a little hub we have for the laptop just to get the printer USB to hook up, since its own USB cable is too short to reach my computer, and the computer recognized that hub and the printer immediately.

But the mouse is connected through the hub now as well and sometimes on a restart the mouse works, and sometimes it doesn't, the same as if it were plugged in directly. I've updated every driver I can think of and it still hasn't resolved the issue.

I'm beginning to think maybe my mouse is bad, even though it worked prior to the lightning incident and is relatively new and I also see no reason why lightning would have gotten it and nothing else that was plugged in peripherally. The basic old optical MS mouse worked just fine when we were setting up Windows, so that also makes me suspect this mouse.

Oh well, red isn't my color anyway, blue is much more to my liking.

lol. Well, if I were you, I would call up the manufacturer and let them know what is going on with your mouse, and see what they say about it. If you have only had it for a year, you may still have a bit of warranty on it.

Glad that I was able to help a little bit on getting some of your stuff working again.

Well *knocks feverishly on wood* the mouse is working on every restart. I updated the mouse drivers again, updated the BUS drivers on my motherboard again, and updated the BIOS and its recognizing the hub (mouse & printer) and iPod at start up when it goes through the info on the screen. So maybe that's all fixed.

Now my latest problem is my brand new LCD monitor (Samsung 206BW) is possessed, literally. It flashes through the brightness levels menu for me, then turns itself off and back on, or just turns itself off...and I don't even have to touch it.

When it does turn itself off, the power button doesn't work to turn it back on, the only ones that seem to work are the Menu and Auto buttons, both of which act like the power button. It started the second day I had it and it was plugged into the laptop via VGA cable.

If anything its steadily gotten worse since being on the new computer. It's like there's a short in the wiring or something is pinched where the buttons are. The setting buttons don't work at all, which are the middle 3. As soon as I get my cell phone back I'm going to call Samsung and see what's up with it and if they want me to RMA it.

I've read nearly 1000 reviews on the monitor and everyone loves it, although the only frequently mentioned problem people report is a buzzing noise when you turn the brightness down. Since I don't have a brightness problem, I haven't come across that particular problem. Mine just thinks its the child of the Exorcist.

It being my first LCD monitor and reading reports of people being rough with theirs and it not working or killing pixels I babied this thing the entire week, and I still can't figure it out. I thought maybe tilting it that one time and it turning off was it. But once it got set up on my desk I haven't touched it at all, so I have no flipping idea. At least I can use my husband's 20 inch'er in the meantime if I have to return it.

Update: Called Samsung and they were very friendly and helpful. She said it definitely sounded like something broke and they're going to send me a new monitor within the next week. I also send this one back and don't have to pay shipping to do it, something I would have had to do to ship it back to where I bought it from.

was just going to say that it sounds like you are having connection problems between the circuit board and the buttons. Glad that Samsung is going to help you out.

But, sounds like you are finally getting all the bugs worked out of your system. that is one thing that I hate when I upgrade.
