First Hookup of 2007

So far the first action I've seen this year is between June, a 2003 Amel. Motley and Cardiń, a 2003 Amel. Bloodred.

I put them together and within a minute or two he was ready to propose and get down to business.

"Will you accept my spooge?"

"Je t'aime, mon chéri"

"Just a little bit to the left..."

"Oh yeah.."

"Do you prefer regular Marlboro's or menthol?"

Great pics Misty and congrats. I'm still (im)patiently waiting here but keeping my fingers crossed.

Should be some interesting hatchlings with that pairing.

I thought breeding didn't usually start until May or so, but I'm new!

Great photos! What is the yellow stuff in the last photo?

Snake breeding does occur in the Spring for many breeders. Some breeders don't brumate, and many do so during the cold months of the year. So, in those cases, breeding usually occurs in the Spring. It can occur at other times of the year, though. Some breeders have a set up that allows them to brumate their snakes at different times of the year. This may be an air-conditioned room or similar. Breeders may choose to do this for a variety of reasons. Some like having hatchlings at "off" times of the year for business reasons. Others want to have their busy "hatchling" time of year while the kids are in school, so summer is freed up a bit for family time. I have an area in the house where I brumate my snakes. I wait until the weather is right for me to do this. So for me, snake breeding season is in the Spring.

The yellow stuff is semen.

Thanks for the info! Great to know. I think it is a good idea to brumate snakes at different times of the year, like you said, for business reasons (and personal). It would be nice to have them brumate over summer and breed them late in the year to winter as that is when most time is spent indoors (i.e. slow season).

That is a lot of semen, lol. It looks like egg yolk.

Awesome pictures! It's getting me excited to start the season off myself. Three short months to go and then I can enjoy the excitement you're getting now.

Beautiful corns too...
